South Tyrol Museum of Archeology

The South Tyrol Museum of Archeology documents the history of South Tyrol, from the Paleolithic Age and Mesolithic Age all the way up to the time of Charlemagne. Besides the original finds on display, you can view models and reconstructions as well as visit interactive multi-media stations to learn more about the early history of this region – in an instructive and entertaining fashion. Within the historical framework, "Ötzi" (the "Iceman," the world's oldest known humid mummy, discovered in 1991) forms the central component of the exhibition complex. "Ötzi" lived approx. 3300 B.C., and is presented along with numerous artifacts discovered with him.
